College & Career Pathways transform students’ high school experience by helping them gain

 

advantages in high school, college and careers. The Pathways provide a challenging experi-

ence that inspires students to learn and give them access to education that is both rigorous

 

and relevant, while also addressing actual needs in our state’s economy. Students in Pathways

 

are acquiring a strong academic foundation with transferable skills that expand their post-

secondary options.

 

Below is a list of how our business and community partners can help...

We are currently looking for organizations to provide summer
internships for students to learn job skills and experience real-world
industry needs and practices.  Internships can be structured remotely or
on-line.  Currently there is a great need for internships in the
following areas: law, public service, government, engineering,
environmental science, art, business, health and other related fields.

Opportunities to Support 
Please review the list below and decide how you or your business may partner with PUSD College & Career Pathways.
Career Awareness: Visit students in the classroom to discuss your industry and profession, or give stu- dents and teachers a firsthand look at your profession as they shadow professionals in your work place.
Leadership & Guidance: Meet with teachers and administrators to help develop solutions for the challenges they face. Serve on the advisory committee to assist with creating real world, work related experiences in lessons and labs to meet industry needs and practices. Utilize business staff to support teachers in learning about your industry and how to ensure relevance in daily curriculum.
Occupation Experience: Provide an opportunity for teachers to work outside of the classroom to strengthen their knowledge of your industry and incorporate this knowledge back in the classroom. Pro- vide internships for students to learn job skills and experience the real world industry needs and practices.
Financial Support: Provide internship stipends for students for a specified period of time to learn job skills, or provide funding for other events, such as the College Fair.
